Welcome

Just a little bit about me:

Good morning and welcome to my Disease Ecology blog – My name is Sarah Peaden. I have a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and am looking forward to earning a graduate certificate in One Health studies. I spend my week days as a lab manager/research assistant in a Neurophysiology research lab at Auburn University. Our lab broadly focuses on understanding central nervous system signaling mechanisms involved in cardiovascular control under healthy and diseased states.

I look forward to utilizing this blog to celebrate the success of our scientists and society in combating deadly diseases throughout history and measures we can all take to secure their place in the past. Check back each week to learn a little something about that week’s featured disease and how it (for the most part) isn’t wiping us all out in these modern times. I hope you will enjoy this infectious disease venture along with me.

To prove I’m a real person…when I’m not in the lab I love playing with my sweet little pup, Winnie, and sailing with my family.
